Stargazing In La Serena Sunday, December 10, 2006 Heading south towards Santiago, we stopped in the Atacama Desert. The driest place on earth, this barren wasteland is the perfect place to build observatories; some of the largest telescopes in the world are built here. We took a stargazing tour and saw the Andromeda galaxy through our own eyes (via a giant telescope...). Also, we got our first sighting of the Southern Cross, only visible from the Southern Hemisphere - very cool! Check our Latest Adventures section below for pictures and stories from Peru. |
