We paused in the picturesque seat of Chilean government, Valparaiso, on the Pacific coast.
As we walked the streets, news came through that the former dictator Pinochet had finally died.
Reaction on the streets was mixed - with the general vibe being relief that a long and painful part of Chile´s past was coming to an end. Many are disappointed that the man responsible for so much suffering never had to face justice, but in a deeply catholic country presumably the belief is that he now has some serious explaining to do!
