08/08/08 - an incredibly lucky day (if you're Chinese or us!) as Maxwell Thor entered the world to the sound of Olympic fireworks thundering across the sky.

Being Born

Woah, that was quick! Steeled by stories of 4 day labours, we had barely hobbled to the labour ward before it was all hands to the pump. After a total of only 1 hour and 19 minutes (Fact Fans: 1st stage 55 mins; 2nd stage 11 mins; 3rd stage 13 mins - hmm, looks like mum was slacking by stage 3), Maxwell Thor Campbell was born.

Let's cast a modest veil over the agony and screams that accompanied such a hurried birth (and that's just Magnus...).

The first picture was taken 5 seconds after wee Maxwell was born. He was a little 7lb 7.5oz prune - with huge flipper feet!

The little dude seemed stunned by the whole event but mercifully free of 'baby cone head' due to the speed of the birth. Right from the start his helplessness was countered by an intensity to his gaze that hints at great things to come.

Mum & Dad Campbell

Head still all bloody, the little guy was unsure about the odd turn his day was taking.

A comforting encounter with his mum's boob was enough to send him off to a contented sleep.

Sleeping Like A Baby

The First Nappy

With perfect timing, Gary & Kirstin arrive just in time to capture dad's first attempt at a nappy change, scraping weird tarry birth poop off his bum.
